The regulation
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) has applied since 2025-06-28. This tool targets EPUB Accessibility 1.1 at WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the specification's own conformance target for EPUB 3 publications.
What "evidence" means here
Every fact this tool reports is observed directly in your file: the EPUB version, the presence of a navigation document, image counts with and without an alt attribute, table and MathML presence, and an animated-GIF signal always reported as an unverified possible hazard, never a verdict. Metadata (schema.org's accessMode, accessModeSufficient, accessibilityFeature) is written into the OPF only when the spec makes the value unambiguous from that observed fact — for example, a title with zero images has an unambiguous textual access mode. Every other content document in your EPUB is proven byte-identical to your input; only the metadata block changes.
What this never claims
This is not a certification and it does not say your books are "EAA compliant," "accessible," or "AI"-anything. It never writes an accessibility summary, a conformance claim, or a hazard "none" value on its own — those require a person's decision, and the receipt lists them for you instead of guessing.
Verify your own obligations before this matters
Whether the EAA applies to your specific products and sales channels is a scope question for your own counsel or compliance function. This page's citations are not a substitute for checking your own obligations.
