Terms for a paid job
Terms for a paid job.
What you buy, what we warrant, what happens to the files you send us, and when you get your money back.

What these terms cover
These terms govern a paid job you order on this site from Kettle & Haven LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. The free tools run inside your browser, send us nothing, and are not covered here.
Your contract is made up of two things: these terms, and the scope contract shown on the job page before you pay. The scope contract states what you receive, what the job will not do, how long we keep your files, the size limits, how many revisions are included, and how long support runs. Where the two differ, the scope contract you accepted wins, because it is the one you were shown.
One price, charged once
Every job on this site is a single one-time charge, shown in full before you are asked for payment details. Nothing renews, nothing is stored to be charged later, and there is no subscription to cancel.
Payment is taken on the payment processor’s own page. We never receive or store your card details.
What we warrant, and what you warrant
We warrant that the report faithfully reflects the files you gave us, under the column mapping and the tolerance you chose. If it does not, that is our defect and section “If something goes wrong” applies.
You warrant that the files you upload are yours to upload, and that they say what you believe they say. We do not warrant your data. If an export is stale, truncated by the system that produced it, or mapped to the wrong column, the report will faithfully reflect that — and a faithful report of a bad export is not a defect in the report.
This split matters because the two failures look identical from the outside. We take responsibility for the half we control.
What the report is, and what it decides
The report lists every row where your two files disagree, and every row present in one file and not the other. It decides nothing beyond that.
It expresses no opinion on which file is right, on whether either set of records is correct, or on anyone’s financial statements. It is a comparison of two files you supply, produced by software, for your own internal use. Do not present it to a third party as though it were an independent professional engagement, because it is not one and we do not offer one.
Your files: how we process them
For the files you upload, you are the controller and we act as your processor. This section is the processing agreement between us, and it applies whether or not any data-protection law reaches your data — we would rather state one behaviour than two.
Your instruction is the job you configured: the files, the column mapping, and the tolerance you set on the job page. We process them for one purpose only, which is producing your report. We do not use them to train anything, we do not use them for any other customer, we do not sell them, and we do not share them.
We delete uploaded files within the automatic cleanup cycle after the retention period shown before upload, including when checkout is abandoned. Reports are deleted after the retention window stated in the scope contract. Use “Delete files and reports” on the report page for earlier deletion; this deletes the uploaded files and every report using those same files. Payment records and the reusable configuration are retained. You can also write to hello@kettleandhaven.com with the order number.
Your files are processed and stored on servers we operate in the United States (New York), rented from our hosting provider, which is our only sub-processor for the file contents. The payment processor handles payment and never receives your files. We do not transfer your files anywhere else.
Everyone with access to the processing systems is bound to keep the contents confidential. If a person in your files exercises a right against you — access, correction, erasure, portability — tell us and we will help you answer it within your deadline. We will not answer them directly, because you are the controller and it is your record, not ours.
If we ever become aware that your files were exposed, we tell you without undue delay and with what we know, so that you can meet your own notification deadline.
If something goes wrong, and refunds
There are three cases, and they have three different answers.
- We did not deliver. If the job fails and you receive no report, you are refunded in full, automatically, without asking. You are never charged for a run that produced nothing.
- We delivered, but the report does not match the warranty above. Tell us within the support window stated in your scope contract. We fix it and re-deliver at no charge, using the revisions included in your job. If we cannot make it match, you are refunded in full and you keep nothing you have to pay for.
- We delivered, it is correct, and it did not turn out to be what you needed. Ask within 14 days of delivery and we refund in full, once per buyer per job. A file at this price is not worth arguing about, and we would rather you told us than charged it back.
The limit of what we owe you
Where the law allows a limit, ours is the amount you paid for the job in question. We are not liable for what you decide after reading the report — the report finds disagreements between two files; the decision about what those disagreements mean is yours.
Nothing here limits liability that Colorado law does not permit us to limit, including for fraud.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The version that governs your purchase is the one published at the moment you paid, and the date at the top of this page tells you when this version was published.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking to us will be heard in the courts of Colorado.
Questions, deletion requests and refund requests all go to the same place: hello@kettleandhaven.com.
